It’s a big weekend of action for Cranleigh’s senior sides, with four teams in action both home and away. Here’s what to expect:
Saturday 8th March
Cranleigh Firsts vs Addlestone Senior First
π Premier Challenge Cup β Quarter-Final
π Ground: Glebelands | β° Kick-off: 2pm
Cranleigh Firsts face Addlestone Senior First in a massive Premier Challenge Cup quarter-final at Glebelands. The squad has been on a strong run of form, climbing the table after a slow start, and joint managers Paul Jones and Sam Carpenter are calling on the community to come down and support the Cranes.
Following last weekβs signing of Sam Taylor, Cranleigh further strengthened their squad with the addition of prolific striker Adam Bicknell.
Joint manager Sam Carpenter said:“Itβs been a busy couple of weeks in terms of recruitment. Paul Jones and I have been working non-stop to find the right players, not just those with skill, but the right attitude to fit with the club.”
“This weekend is arguably our biggest game of the season so far. The lads have been training hard, and with Bickers coming in alongside Tails, we feel weβre in a great place to progress. Cranleigh is a community club, and it would be fantastic to see as many people as possible at Glebelands to cheer us on.”
Hambledon vs Cranleigh Reserves
π Surrey County Intermediate League β Premier Reserves Division
π Ground: Badger Park | β° Kick-off: 2pm
The Reserves travel to Hambledon looking to bounce back to winning ways. Currently sitting fifth in the table, theyβll be aiming to close the gap on the teams above them.
Sunday 9th March
Cranleigh Veterans vs Woking Vets Wanderers
π Farnham & District Sunday Football League β Division 3
π Ground: Snoxhall | β° Kick-off: 10:30am
The Vets return to action for the first time since mid-February and will be aiming for all three points against bottom-placed Woking Vets Wanderers.
Guildford Saints vs Cranleigh Women
π South East Counties Womenβs Football League β Division 1 South
π Ground: Kings College Guildford | β° Kick-off: 2pm
Cranleigh Women head to Guildford Saints looking to pull clear of the lower end of the table. Despite recent narrow defeats, the team is showing promise and is actively recruiting new players. This weekend, theyβll be hoping to find that extra bit of luck against a Saints side that sits at the foot of the division.
Manager Nick Bamford said: “This will be our third match of the season against Guildford Saints. Our previous matches ended in a thrilling 5-5 draw, and an impressive 8-1 victory. We are taking nothing for granted, but the team have been training hard and we are going out there to claim all three points.”
