After over a month without a competitive match, both Cranleigh U14 Cobras and Cranleigh Women’s were raring to get back on the pitch, and neither team disappointed in a day packed with energy, skill, and plenty of entertainment.
The U14s were in dominant form, securing an impressive 9-1 victory. The scoreline showcased their focus and determination but didn’t quite reflect the effort and spirit shown by the Women’s Team, bolstered by a few special guests. A big shoutout to Kristian, Ayla, and Josephine for stepping up to strengthen the squad and to Coach “Wayne the Cat Stevens” for donning the gloves and putting in a memorable shift in goal.
There were plenty of highlights to keep the crowd engaged, including Josephine’s audacious foul on her brother, a moment guaranteed to spark lively banter at home. The standout strike of the match came from Ollie Kite, whose remarkable effort twisted and turned in mid-air, leaving Wayne helpless as it found the back of the net.
The game wasn’t just about the goals; the quality passing and teamwork displayed by both sides showcased the true spirit of Cranleigh FC; football played at its very best.
A heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the match, both on and off the pitch. Here’s to many more moments like these as we kick off a fresh year of football. Up the Cranleigh!
