With no games scheduled due to half term it was agreed with Billingshuirst to play an 11 a side match at there ground. Cranleigh started the match on the front foot and after 15 minutes were 3-0 up due to a Deon Mubaiwa hat trick. Deon added a 4th before half time with Toby Davies scoring a 5th . So 5-0 at half time which was a great half considering we played for 20 minutes with only 10 players.
Toby Davies younger brother Isaac Davis came on after 20 minutes . Isaac plays for Cranleigh u9 and had an outstanding game and in no way looked out of place even coming close to scoring himself in the second half. Unfortunately and maybe a bit understandably we suffered a bit from goal fever in the second half . At one point it seemed as if we were playing with 1 defender and 9 attackers.
This led to the Billingshurst goal when they broke with a 3 on 1 situation . After conceding the players then started to play with more shape reverting to a 3-4-1-2 formation as oppossed to the 1-9 formation we started the secon half with .
After sorting ourselves out more goals followed with Charlie Gibson twice weaving through to score 2 . A great run from defence led to a Fletcher Russell shot into the bottom corner. A great run and cross from Toby Davies into the area was finished with a great volley into the net from Ethan Payne for his 5th of the season beating his total for the previous 2 seasons. Jack Rogers had worked hard all game down the left and was rewarded with a goal from a lovely left footed strike. A great win and hopefully a lesson learnt about keeping our shape .
