Cranleigh Firsts return to action at Glebelands this Saturday, hosting Worcester Park in the MJM Sports Surrey Premier County Football League (2pm KO).
After a frustrating defeat to Keens Park Rangers last weekend, the Cranes are eager to bounce back, especially following the postponement of their midweek clash with Banstead Rovers. Sitting ninth in the table with seven wins and four draws, Cranleigh have shown strong form since the turn of the year. However, they face a tough test against fifth-placed Worcester Park, who are pushing for promotion.
Joint Manager Sam Carpenter has challenged the team to prove what they’re capable of. He said: “It’s been a frustrating week in one sense. We have a point to prove after last Saturday’s defeat to KPR, on another day, we take the points. We would have fought back midweek, but unfortunately that game was called off through no fault of our own as the home team were unable to provide a pitch, which was disappointing.
“The lads know exactly what Paul Jones and I expect from them. Every point matters, and we’re determined to finish as high as possible and we expect the whole squad to give everything. We’re not here to coast, there are only a handful of games left, and we want to end the season on a high.
“The support of the community really lifts the team, and with the weather set to be great this Saturday, it would be fantastic to see as many people as possible down at Glebelands. You all make a difference.”
Meanwhile, Cranleigh Reserves are at Snoxhall Fields, taking on Staines & Lammas (Middx) Development. Ben Horne’s side sit fourth in the table, with six wins under their belt. While their focus is on the three remaining league fixtures, they also have one eye on their Challenge Cup Final on 24th April.
Get down and support the lads.
