Cranleigh FC put in a spirited performance against league leaders Dial, securing a hard-fought 2-2 draw in a thrilling contest.
The game started at a blistering pace, with both teams looking to impose their style early on. Dial carved out a couple of dangerous chances, but Cranleigh’s goalkeeper George Mead was in inspired form, pulling off a string of excellent saves – a theme that continued throughout the match. However, Dial eventually found a breakthrough, netting twice in quick succession.
Goals
Despite the setback, Cranleigh refused to let their heads drop, digging deep to stay in the game. Their persistence was rewarded five minutes before half-time when Bickers was brought down in the box after a neat exchange with Emin. Stepping up with confidence, Bickers calmly slotted home the penalty – his third goal in as many games – giving the Cranes a crucial lifeline going into the break.
The second half saw Cranleigh emerge with even more determination, defending resolutely while growing in attacking confidence. Their efforts paid off again when Bickers turned provider, delivering a pinpoint ball across the box for RJ, who finished clinically to notch his third goal of the season.
As the game opened up, both teams pushed for a winner, but it was Cranleigh who created the better chances, unlucky not to find a decisive goal.

“Today was a thoroughly enjoyable game. Both teams battled hard, and on balance, a draw was probably a fair result, with both sides having chances to win it. Our boys rose to the occasion and showed we can compete with a top-quality side. I’m extremely proud of their performance.”
