Cranleigh Women’s Team’s three-game unbeaten streak came to an end against a strong, well-organised Molesey Athletic team in the Surrey Divisional Cup. Facing a Molesey side that has been prolific in front of goal, Cranleigh put in a determined display on only their second outing on grass this season.

Molesey took an early 2-0 lead, showcasing their slick passing and relentless pressure. However, Cranleigh fought back, with Caroline Terrell finishing a well-taken goal to pull one back. Despite this, Molesey’s attacking power saw them score two more goals before the break, giving them a 4-1 advantage at halftime.

The second half saw Cranleigh dig deep, with goalkeeper Laura Murray putting on a superb performance to keep the scoreline respectable. Given Molesey’s recent 21-0 victory over Egham Town, Cranleigh’s resilience provided a much tougher test than the hosts might have expected.

Charlotte Hardie’s hard work throughout the match earned her the Player of the Match award, and the whole team can be proud of their efforts against formidable opponents. Molesey added three more goals in the second half to seal their spot in the next round, and we wish them the best for the remainder of their cup campaign.
