Cranleigh Men’s First Team made the trip to Worcester Park, aiming to build on the momentum from last week’s positive performance. The match started evenly, with both teams battling for control, but the home side took advantage of the sloping pitch in the early exchanges.
Fixtures & Results
The game took a sharp turn on 35 minutes when Cranleigh’s Sam Nicholson was sent off after receiving two quick yellow cards. Worcester Park wasted no time capitalising on their numerical advantage, opening the scoring shortly after through a well-worked move down the left. Moments before the half-time whistle, a clever counter-attack saw them double their lead, leaving Cranleigh facing an uphill battle.
League table
In the second half, Worcester Park dominated possession, using their extra man to press forward. Despite this, Cranleigh’s defence, led by standout performer Ciaran Lynch, held firm, showing great resilience and making life difficult for the opposition. However, with 15 minutes left, Worcester Park managed to seal the win with a third goal, putting the result beyond doubt.
Despite the 3-0 defeat, Cranleigh can take plenty of positives from a spirited and hardworking display under tough conditions.
