How long have you been with Cranleigh FC, and what brought you to the club?
I’ve been with Cranleigh FC for 37 years. I started playing when I was just 4 years old and continued until I was 16. After a break from football (ages 16 to 24), I eventually returned to the game, and I’ve been with the club ever since.
What do you love most about representing Cranleigh FC?
The club is filled with amazing people and has a fantastic, supportive atmosphere. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some incredible new friends through the club, and I’ve also brought some of my close friends into the fold. It’s the perfect blend of camaraderie and football.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given in football?
- Sometimes, doing nothing is the right decision.
- Have confidence in yourself—if you see an opportunity, take the shot.
- Always trust your teammates.
Which famous footballer do you admire and why?
I admire Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, and Jermain Defoe. They were all exceptional strikers, but each for different reasons. Lineker was the ultimate poacher, Shearer was the quintessential goal scorer, and Defoe embodied pure pace and instinct.
What advice would you give to younger players on becoming better footballers?
Don’t be lazy—work hard! Fitness makes football easier. Train both feet, and most importantly, make sure you’re enjoying yourself. Having fun is key!
