Cranleigh FC Women’s Team play International Football!! On Sat 10 June we played in a six aside tournament against both domestic and International opponents
Our friends at Old Tiffinians Women’s Team invited us to join them in South London in a tournament against their guests from Germany MTV Danischenhagen
On a roasting hot Saturday afternoon Cranes played 8 six aside matches against MTV and Old Tiffs teams
Illness before the game saw a number of our players drop out but the great relationship we have with Old Tiffs enabled us to use one of their players as a sub as well as a couple of players from MTV
Most importantly we arranged a “temporary loan” of German Keeper Isla (pictured) who played in goal for us for all 8 matches
Fi, Badger, Lucy, Kelly and Lily played the first four matches without stopping and we were able to use our subs for the repeat four matches
An exhausting and hot afternoon but made so much better by the friendship between the players and coaches. Old Tiffs are the greatest of hosts and it’s always a pleasure to meet with them and play against them
Our German friends embarrassed us with their command of the English language!!😀
I have though picked up one German word to shout from the touch line when one of our players does well and that is “Wunderbar!!”
We very much look forward to playing Old Tiffs next season and a trip in the future to Northern Germany to meet up with MTV
