First game for Cranleigh u15 on the bmmf pitch which might explain our slow start.
Within the first 8 minutes we were 1-0 down as Ewell started brightly.
Ewell dominated in midfield knocking balls over our defence and turning our defenders towards our goal.
Another chance for Ewell with their striker gathering a pass and bearing down 1 v1 with our keeper who stood tall to save
Cranleigh needed a spark and Josh Maurizi provided it beating 2 players before shooting narrowly wide.
Sullivan Howick then broke free for a 1v1 with Ewell keeper who saved well.
Another chance for Sullivan as he collected the ball out wide before cutting inside and unleashing a bullet shot into the top corner for 1-1. Leo Lord had a great effort cleared off the line after a cross from Sullivan . The first half ended 1-1 and after a very slow start by Cranleigh we were lucky to be level. As Ewell dominated the midfield a change was needed and the second half began with Josh Maurizi, Ethan Payne and Zach Whittle in midfield.
A much improved Cranleigh started the second half as we gained parity in midfield. Harry Dancaster lofted a freekick to Sullivan who shot home for 2-1. Two narrow offside decisions denied Leo Lord, one from a defence splitting pass by Eddie Ragusa.Patrick Mare was very unlucky as he defended a long ball with the ball coming off his ankle to Isaac in goal who picked it up only to be penalised for a back pass .Indirect free kick to Ewell in our area who scored with a deflected shot 2-2.
Rough justice on Cranleigh who had been the better team in the second half.
After drawing level Ewell almost took the lead as Isaac Denton-Miller produced an amazing save with their striker again through 1v1
Major worry for Cranleigh as Buster Boomer who had a superb came off after injuring his knee.
The winning goal came soon after as Sullivan again broke free of his marker and drilled a shot goal bound. A great save by the keeper palming the ball away , luckily Leo Lord was following up and scored from 2 yards Deserved goal for Leo who chases every ball and works hard for the team.
Cranleigh really were in control now with further chances by Ethan Payne ,josh , Sullivan and a mazy run and shot by Harry Dancaster.
Final score 3-2 and after a poor start a good win with the second half changes making a big difference.
