This top of the table clash didn’t disappoint. After an even first 30 minutes with strong performances from the Cranleigh defence (especially full back Dan Pearce), Cranleigh broke the deadlock with a well taken Ellis header and the home team held on to half time. Early in the second half a well taken Hari Grewal goal saw the home side double their lead but this game was far from over. Chesworth battled back with a well worked goal only to see a mercurial Cranleigh attack starting with Ed Culverwell down the left and involving Ryan Taiani, Harry Nicholas and the lively Grewal, reward the ever dangerous Cam Lawson with his 11th of the campaign. A late strike from, the visitors made for a nervy last 15 minutes however some quick thinking from keeper Dan Laws released the ever energetic Nicholas who raced through what was left of the opposition’s defence, for a well-deserved yet hard earned victory.
