Cranleigh welcomed Lewes to a very wet and windy Snoxhall on Sunday morning in their first home game of the season. The first half was played in strong wind and rain, but that did not detract from the quality of Cranleigh’s football. Throughout the complete team, composure on the ball, movement to create space, and pressure on closing down when we didn’t have the ball was exemplary. Cranleigh where the dominant force and at half time they were 4-0 up, thanks to a hattrick from Harvey Stiles and 1 from Joey Dimba.
The second half was thankfully played in better conditions with the sun coming out. Cranleigh didn’t press as hard and were comfortable knocking the ball around, and managed to score one further goal, another by Harvey, finishing with a 5-0 victory that puts them top of the league. With four goals to his name, Harvey was man of the match, although the whole team played very well.
