Having not played in the opening round of matches last weekend the U17s went into their first game of the season with a high level of excitement and enthusiasm. A long trip to the chilly sea front at Seaford was well with the effort as Cranleigh came away 7- 0 winners in a physical and difficult encounter. Premier United made the game tight and competitive with a high tempo game that made it difficult for Cranleigh to play to their strengths.
However new signing Ryan Atalay struck gold with a hat trick on his debut with three excellent finishes, the first of which took Cranleigh into the half time break one goal ahead. The game opened up in the second half as Cranleigh’s patience and persistence eventually got the better of the home side’s efforts, which were now keeping the referee’s whistle and pencil busy, and there were goals for Marcel Kotowski (2), Harvey Stiles and Callum Jones as Cranleigh finished the game with flurry of good quality passing play.
