Top of the table Cranleigh, still buoyant from their come from behind win with 10 men, made the trip to title favourites and unbeaten redhill. Injuries and unavailability had left the squad without some key players and no goalkeeper. Right back Owen Bartlett donned the gloves, and put in a faultless performance, with others playing in unfamiliar positions. Understandably Cranleigh were not anywhere near their best with Redhill soon in control. Goal mouth action and chances were limited with both teams working hard to close each other down. Redhill took the lead midway through the first half. Opportunities to clear the ball were not taken, the deadlock broken. Cranleigh had to work so hard to not let the game run away from them. It was important not to concede again before the break, mission accomplished. Great effort to stay in the game. Look after the ball when we have possession, get tighter to them when we do not. Believe in yourselves and chances will be created were the instructions. Lose, redhill would be champions in waiting, win then the campaign continues.
To the letter each and every one of the players as always gave everything. with the front men Hayden and Finn combining well, causing the redhill defence plenty to worry about The midfield working tirelessly to support the forwards and defence, the game was end to end, and the chances came and were taken with unforgiving guile. a quick fire hattrick from Finn all set up by Hayden gave Cranleigh a 3-1 lead midway through the half. Game was being managed well with redhill getting very frustrated, . A rare defensive error with 10 minutes to go gave redhill a goal. Cranleigh took a deep breath, stood strong and battled it out to the end. A lot of smiling faces, tired legs on the pitch and plenty of noise from a very happy and proud group of supporters.
the season still alive, 2 games left 2 wins needed. With the last game at home to redhill on May 22.
