After having our last 3 matches cancelled due to bad weather it was a relief to finally get a game.

We were to play Albury at Gosden House Bramley on a very small and uneven pitch , not conducive to our style of play at all but at least they had cleared the cows off it before we arrived!

We started the game looking  a bit rusty and we were taking our time to find our rhythm. We gradually started to get the upper hand and a great cross from Jack Rogers was turned home by Deon Mubaiwa for his 30 th of the season. Deon scored his second 5 minutes later beating 2 defenders to score. A great solo run by Toby Davis saw him unlucky to hit the bar soon after. The half finished with Cranleigh 2 – 0 up and starting look better the longer the game progressed.

Within minutes of the start of the second half a driving run at the heart of the Albury defence by Ethan Payne and a great through ball saw Toby Davis score our third. With Ethan and Isaac ( ginger )Holt starting to boss the midfield i felt more goals were soon to come. An absolute worldie defence splitting ball from Ginger saw Deon Mubaiwa through to complete his hat trick. A corner from Sullivan Howick was volleyed against the bar by Ethan Payne who was unlucky not to score. Proof that miracles do happen 2 minutes later when Sullivan actually managed to hit the target( a very rare occurrence ) and scored our fifth.

Our sixth came soon after with Deon Mubaiwa and Toby Davis combining with great passing for Toby to get his second. After being awarded a free kick outside the Albury box Charlie O Brien drilled a goal bound shot that the keeper could only parry to Sullivan who smashed home from a foot out. The Cranleigh defence of Jack Westerman , Buster Boomer , Charlie O Brien and William Aitken had been outstanding all game only to unfortunately switch off towards the end letting Albury get a consolation goal . Will put it down to not having played for 5 weeks .

With the score at 7-1 to Cranleigh there was just time for Jack Rogers to hit the bar late on which was a shame as Jack had played very well and deserved a goal.

A good win by Cranleigh in the end though it did take a while for the team to get going .
