A wet and blustery morning set the stage for a tough encounter as Cranleigh U14 Cobras faced a strong Ewhurst U15 side. Playing up a year in the league continues to test the Cobras, but they proved once again that they are more than capable of competing at this level.

Despite conceding an early goal, the Cobras stayed true to their style of play, moving the ball well and creating opportunities. Their persistence paid off when Ollie K found the back of the net, sending the teams into the break level at 1-1.

The second half brought no let-up in intensity, with Ewhurst taking the lead once more. Undeterred, the Cobras pressed hard and came agonisingly close to equalising in the dying moments. A last-minute free kick from Ollie K was blocked by the Ewhurst wall, leaving the final score at 2-1 to the hosts.

The cheers from Ewhurst at full-time showed just how much of a challenge the Cobras had posed. It was a gutsy performance that showcased their determination and ability.

Next Saturday, the Cobras return to Fort Snox to take on Dorkinians.
