Two teams slugged it out at Glebelands in the Surrey Div 1 South match between Cranleigh FC Women’s Team and Guildford Saints.
In a ten-goal thriller, the teams traded punches, with each side responding swiftly after conceding. Whenever one team scored, the other went immediately on the offensive to equalise.
Fixtures & Results
Guildford Saints, playing with a league 9v9 dispensation, looked dangerous through the middle, while the thrust of Cranleigh’s attack came from the wings.
Two goals each from wingers Soph and Jenny, along with a strike from Caroline — returning from injury — gave Cranleigh a crucial point in the team’s ongoing campaign to improve season by season. The team now have double the points it accumulated in the whole of last season.

The weather conditions weren’t ideal, with blustery winds and showers, but both teams played quality football. In the end, a draw seemed a fair result for both Cranleigh and Saints.

The coaching models the club follows place emphasis on equal opportunities for all players, regardless of background or ability, and on participation rather than winning.
