A Cranleigh FC volunteer is set to embark on a 5k sponsored run with her three children to raise funds for the Institute of Recovery from Childhood Trauma. Half of the money raised will go to the charity, with the other half supporting Cranleigh FC, for which we are immeasurably grateful.

Imy, whose two sons Teddy and Toby play for Cranleigh FC, is taking on the challenge as a way to give back to the club and raise awareness about the impact of childhood trauma. Her eight-year-old son, Teddy, has been diagnosed with trauma and anxiety following difficult early experiences, but football has been a key part of his healing journey. Since joining Cranleigh FC in 2020, Teddy has found a vital source of connection and support through his teammates and coaches.
“Football has truly been a saviour for my son,” Imy shared. “The Cranleigh coaches and players have given him a sense of belonging that’s been crucial to his recovery, and this is why we’re splitting the money between the charity and the club.”
Poppy (10), Teddy (8), and Toby (5) will all be joining their mother in training for the event, which is not only about raising funds but also about increasing awareness of childhood trauma, an issue affecting countless children worldwide.
Imy expressed her gratitude to those who have supported her family and hopes the challenge will inspire others to contribute. “Even a small donation can make a difference,” she added.
Cranleigh FC is encouraging the community to support Imy and her family in their efforts. Whether through donations or by spreading the word, every bit of support will help both the club and children in need. As a community club, it is important that we support each other.
